Coven Academy Character Profiles
Briar
A sharp, sarcastic New Yorker, Briar arrives at Coven Academy carrying grief over her mother’s death and a guarded approach to new relationships. The boarding school brings unfamiliar classmates, emerging magical abilities, and the challenge of starting over in New Orleans. Though she initially keeps her walls up, Briar must reckon with the possibility that letting people in may be less dangerous than she fears. Her story centers on navigating change without losing her sense of self.
Jake
Jake is a beguiling warlock student at Coven Academy whose complicated past shapes his choices. As he tries to come to terms with it, he begins dabbling in dark magic, a path that brings its own dangers. He is intrigued by Briar, the new student, and becomes entangled in a love triangle. Jake’s charm and curiosity sit alongside a willingness to approach risky situations, leaving him to navigate both his feelings and the consequences of his growing powers.
Sasha
Sasha is a young witch whose powerful empathy lets her read emotions and control thoughts. Fiercely protective of her friendship with Tegan, she is initially wary of newcomers to Coven Academy. As the story unfolds, Sasha becomes a steady center within her most important friendships, balancing sharp emotional perception with loyalty to the people she cares about. Her abilities give her unusual insight into others, while her guardedness reflects how much those relationships matter to her.
Tegan
Tegan is a bubbly, grounded witch whose magic bends time. Her ADHD is both a genuine challenge and connected to the source of her powers, shaping how she experiences life and magic. Endearingly goofy and enthusiastically loyal, she is especially devoted to her friends and will do anything for them. Tegan’s courage often exceeds her own expectations; her warmth and willingness to act make her an important presence in the close-knit friendships at Coven Academy.
Ollie
Ollie is a newly turned vampire who passes as the magnetic boy next door. His new life brings expectations from his vampire family, even as he develops feelings for Briar. Caught between those pressures and his own growing attachment, Ollie must navigate a changed identity alongside the ordinary complications of relationships. His outward charm contrasts with the uncertainty of adjusting to a place in a new family and deciding where his loyalties lie.
Miss Graves
Miss Graves is the glamorous, high-principled head of Coven Academy and a former student who knows its halls from more than one perspective. Strong and confident, she is willing to confront her enemies and has devoted her life to preparing students for the battles ahead. Graves also carries secrets of her own, adding a private dimension to her public authority. Her leadership combines firm standards with a clear commitment to the young witches and warlocks in her care.
Mr. Cole
Mr. Cole is a brilliant warlock and an effortlessly cool teacher at Coven Academy. Tired of watching teenagers mistake raw talent for readiness, he is direct when students need a reality check. His firmness is rooted in concern: he is prepared to put a student in their place to protect them. A new student unsettles the familiar rhythm of another school year, bringing unexpected change for Cole and the rest of the faculty.
