Meet the characters from The Untamed
Wei Wu Xian
Okay, Wei Wuxian is pure chaos wrapped in a very loud laugh — the kind of guy who sets off fireworks at funerals and somehow makes you forgive him for it. He’s brilliant and reckless in equal measure, always inventing something half-scheme, half-genius (and yes, sometimes that means dancing with demons; don’t ask). Deeply, stubbornly loyal, he’ll hurt like crazy and then grin and fix everything with a flute solo or a terrible joke. Also, he’s this weird mix of melancholy and mischief—sensitive but annoying on purpose—like he’s constantly wearing a mask and it’s glued on with glitter.
Lan Wang Ji
Lan Wang Ji is the poster child for silent intensity — stoic, inscrutable, does the eyebrow thing more eloquently than words ever could. He follows rules like they’re part of his bones, but don’t be fooled: his stubborn reserve hides this volcanic, oddly tender stubbornness when it comes to the people he cares about. He’s the type who will stare at you until you notice your own heart, then pretend it was all a gardening exercise; also, rumor has it he hums when he thinks no one’s listening (totally unconfirmed, obviously). Very composed, very fierce, and quietly catastrophic if you break his one rule: betray his trust.
Jiang Cheng
Jiang Cheng is a perpetual scowl with a soft center that he denies, loudly and often. He’s hot-tempered, proud as a rooster, and will lecture you for three hours about honor while secretly nursing some very old hurts — and yes, he drinks like it’s an art form (or therapy, depends which day). Protective to the bone, he’s the clan’s snarling guard dog who’ll bite first and apologize… maybe never; but he’d also throw himself in front of a blade without a second thought. He acts like he hates everyone but is really just allergic to being helpless, which is annoying and heroic in equal measure.
Jiang Yan Li
Jiang Yan Li is the calming presence everyone needs — soft-spoken, endlessly patient, and somehow makes soup that fixes everything, including your existential crisis. She’s the kind of person who forgives first and asks questions later, with a laugh that diffuses tension like magic (or grandma power, same thing). Underneath the sunshine she’s quietly strong, carrying more than she lets on and being the secret backbone of chaos around her. Also, please note: she’ll probably patch your shirt, scold you gently, then bake you cookies as punishment — the system works.
Nie Huai Sang
Nie Huai Sang is this slippery, theatrical ball of mischief who looks like he’ll flit away at any moment with a parasol and a scandalous secret. He’s a schemer, sure — often lazy, fond of pretty things, and a surprisingly effective manipulator when bored — but he also has that odd, soft loyalty that makes you forgive his fashion choices. He’s allergic to straightforwardness, loves gossip, and will absolutely dramatize a tiny problem like it’s the end of the world (and then forget about it next week). Despite the flair, there’s a clever, underappreciated brain under all that lace and that’s the dangerous part.
Wen Ning
Wen Ning is the gentle giant/creepy-cute paradox: terrifying in a fight and utterly sweet in a kitchen debate about dumpling folds. He’s quiet, kind, mostly the softest person you’ll meet, and has this whole “scary exterior, plushie collector” vibe that never stops being endearing. Fiercely protective of his friends, he’s the kind who will show up at midnight with rice and bandages and maybe a very solemn joke to awkwardly lighten the mood. Oh, and he’s unexpectedly sentimental — keeps tiny mementos he’ll never admit to owning (like a sock… maybe).
Lan Xi Chen
Lan Xi Chen is calm, refined, and annoyingly competent — the kind of leader who smiles politely while plotting five steps ahead and makes you feel simultaneously comforted and incompetent. He radiates quiet authority, loves protocol, and can shut down chaos with a single look (which, let’s be honest, he uses sparingly because drama is fun sometimes). There’s a soft, almost mischievous side that pops out in rare, very precise moments — like he secretly enjoys small rebellions, which is adorable coming from someone who runs a whole clan. Also, he probably has a guilty pleasure for bad jokes and elaborate tea sets; don’t tell him I said that.
