He’s a romantic who owns businesses and occasionally makes terrible decisions for the right reasons (or at least he thinks so), and honestly you can’t help rooting for him. He’ll give a speech about responsibility and then cry over a sandwich in the break room; very human, very Rafael. Also weird little fact: he has an inexplicable collection of novelty ties and maybe one sad plant he’s convinced he’ll keep alive this year.

Xiomara Villanueva

Xiomara is pure fire and joy and loud music — she’s a mother, a singer, a hurricane of personality who refuses to apologize for taking up space. She’s impulsive and honest and will call you out with a wink, but she’s also the person who will make you feel like everything is possible (and then make you try a dance move at two in the morning). She’s brash in the best way, but there’s a soft core where she worries about her kids and her choices, secretly planning ten comebacks while she drinks coffee. And yes, she definitely owns more sequined tops than is strictly necessary and might mix up Spanish and English dramatically on purpose.

Petra Solano

Petra is a glorious mess of ambition and vulnerability — sharp, strategic, and unexpectedly maternal when you least expect it. She plays the long game, reinvents herself like it’s a hobby, and can be both icy and wildly devoted in the same scene (which is kind of the best). She will negotiate a contract, throw a verbal gauntlet, then quietly make sure everyone has snacks — contradictory but somehow consistent for her. Little weird detail: she is very into feng shui one week and then burns sage out of spite the next; mood-driven home décor apparently.

He lives for applause, for the spotlight, and for writing the perfect Instagram caption that somehow includes a son’s achievement and a bow tie reference. Underneath the glitz is a devoted dad who would climb a set of stairs in full costume to give you a pep talk, and also maybe cry between takes. Side note: he owns more wigs than houseplants, and he keeps both in immaculate, possibly dramatic order.

Alba Villanueva

Alba is the quiet, iron-willed heart of the family — devout, wise, stubborn, and with a patience that feels almost supernatural until she snaps and it’s glorious. She holds traditions close but isn’t above a sly joke or a knowing look that says she’s lived through more than you can imagine (also she might have a past as spicy as anyone’s, rumor has it). She’s the moral compass everyone consults, but she also secretly loves a pop song and will hum something modern while knitting a prayer shawl. Little human contradiction: she lectures about patience and then will smuggle in contraband snacks when the occasion calls for it.
