Meet the characters from iCarly

Spencer Shay

Spencer is the glorious madcap uncle-brother who lives like art is oxygen — he makes giant sculptures out of junk and somehow they look intentional, most of the time. He’s goofy, childlike, and deeply dramatic about pretty much everything, especially snack time and ladders, and he’ll definitely narrate his own life if you let him. He’s also weirdly wise in the middle of a ridiculous tantrum; like, he’ll scream about a lamp and then give you a speech about courage five minutes later. Also, sweater collection, absolutely chaotic studio, and I’m 90% sure he eats cereal at midnight like a tiny, philosophical raccoon.

Freddie Benson

Freddie is the tech wizard and reluctant heart of the show — camera guy, gadget fixer, and the sort of person who keeps a spare HDMI cord in every jacket. He’s practical, kind of anxious, low-key romantic (yeah, the Carly stuff), and also secretly stubborn when it comes to doing the right thing, which is why he brakes for moral potholes. He hates being the center of attention but will absolutely throw himself in front of one to save the iCarly set, and his toolbelt is somehow also his emotional armor. Sometimes he’s awkward to the point of comedic timing and sometimes he’s surprisingly brave, which is his best weird combo.

Carly Shay

Carly is sunshine with an internet connection — warm, funny, and somehow always the calm in the middle of Spencer/Freddie chaos. She’s creative, the natural host, and has this kind of no-drama confidence that makes everyone feel like the show is going to be fine even when it explodes (literally sometimes). She cares a ton about her friends and is surprisingly bossy when planning something, which is adorable not tyrannical, promise. Also she hates liars but will forgive a lot if there’s pizza involved, which, factual or not, feels accurate.

Harper

Harper is a noise of joy — loud, fashionable, and chaotic in the most endearing way; think glitter, merch, and very specific emotional reactions to houseplants. She’s dramatic, supportive, calls people out with one-liners, and somehow will plan a themed party at 2 a.m. while also folding napkins like it’s an art form. She claims to be low-key but every entrance is full-on, and she’ll contradict herself three times in one conversation (vegan today, cake at midnight tomorrow). Also, she hoards quirky hats and uses them as life advice props, don’t ask how it works.

Millicent

Millicent is the tiny, brilliant producer who treats the iCarly brand like a NASA mission — hyper-focused, way too organized for her age, and secretly judging your social media strategy. She’s sarcastic in the best possible teen-savant way and has flawless timing when it comes to deadpan lines, but she’s not above a ridiculous impulse, so don’t be surprised if she suddenly buys 400 LED lights for “science.” She’s loyal, surprisingly tender under the spreadsheet veneer, and very into efficiency rituals that somehow include snacks. Also she’s technically precise and emotionally chaotic at the same time, which makes her both hilarious and oddly comforting.

Marissa Benson

Marissa is Freddie’s mom and peak protective parent energy — loud, cringey in a totally loving way, and always bursting into the wrong room at the wrong time (but with snacks, usually). She can be overbearing, yes, but she’s also impossibly devoted and will defend her kid like a tiny, slightly nervous superhero. She’s got this mix of weird bravado and real softness that makes her more than just the “embarrassing mom” trope. Also she surprises people by being a lot tougher than you’d guess, and then at family dinner she’ll cry over a commercial — emotional whiplash, honestly.

Nevel Papperman

Nevel is the classic internet villain: tiny-time critic turned obsessive troll who runs a meltdown empire from his laptop and a very dramatic voice. He’s mean, petty, and theatrical — like, his insults come with a backing track — and he loves sabotaging iCarly almost as much as he loves talking about how brilliant he is. He’s creepy in a very specific way (creepy laugh included), but also oddly insecure, which is part of what makes him so entertainingly vile. Also he’s allergic to humility and maybe cats? (I feel like there was a cat thing. Or maybe I’m misremembering — whatever, he hates goodwill.)
