Meet the characters from A Million Little Things
Eddie Saville
Eddie is that guy who looks put-together on the outside and is falling apart in slow-motion on the inside — charming, defensive, full of swagger and guilt. He’s a protector type who can snap into impatience like it’s muscle memory, but then will do something unexpectedly soft (like making the worst coffee ever because he thinks it comforts you). He’s both stubborn and secretly insecure — insists on being the “fixer” yet often needs fixing himself, which is deliciously messy. Also, for reasons I can’t fully explain, I keep picturing him with a ridiculous karaoke obsession? Don’t trust him with IKEA instructions but trust him with impossible promises.
Rome Howard
Rome is the warm, beating heart of the friend group — goofy, wise, annoyingly steady (in the best way). He’s creative, a little spiritual, huge on loyalty and terrible at lying even when it’s convenient, which is both precious and deeply embarrassing for him. He’ll drop a dad joke and also give you the exact right thing to say when you’re panicking; how does he do that, seriously. He’s somehow both organized (color-coded calendars, yes) and a total scatterbrain with his keys — lifetime mystery. Basically: big-hearted, complicated, and forever the friend you call at 2am.
Maggie Bloom
Maggie is fierce and soft at once — she can run a meeting, run a household, and also cry in the car over a song and not be ashamed about it. She’s practical, compassionate, a little controlling (in a “we’ll get through this” kind of way), and fiercely protective of her people even when she’s questioning herself. There’s this cool steadiness but also flashes of vulnerability that make you want to hug and shake her at the same time — she’s human and messy and real. Fun fact-ish: she carries an emergency snack at all times and will judge your tea choice but then finish it for you.
Regina Howard
Regina is businesslike and brilliant and sometimes terrifying in meetings, but at home she’s a soft hurricane of love and rules — she loves structure and also late-night baking experiments, which is somehow the cutest contradiction. She holds space for everyone and is quietly competitive (you’ll see it in her fantasy football obsession, don’t ask). She’s pragmatic, fiercely loyal to her family, and will say the hard thing because someone needs to, even if it makes her the “bad cop.” Also she has this weirdly competitive streak about crossword puzzles — like, don’t challenge her on Saturday New York Times unless you’re ready.
Katherine Saville
Katherine is scrappy, impulsive, and full of confusingly adult decisions for someone still figuring things out — which makes her both maddening and admirable. She’s got this stubborn independence but also keeps looking for approval from people she insists she doesn’t need (teenage contradiction central). She’s creative, a little raw around the edges, and unpredictable in the best way — one minute rebellious, the next minute unexpectedly tender. Oh and she has a vintage typewriter she never uses properly except to make lists — dramatic, I know.
Gary Mendez
Gary is the quietly solid presence you notice when everything else is collapsing; gruff exterior, marshmallow center. He’s practical to a fault, sometimes blunt, occasionally hilariously old-school with technology (seriously, emojis confuse him), but will move heaven and earth for his kid or his friends. He’s the kind of man who does things instead of making speeches — fixes sinks, shows up — but will randomly be poetic about sunsets and then immediately change the subject. Also, he likes analog clocks for reasons he can’t explain and neither can we.
Delilah Dixon
Delilah is effervescent, warm, and wildly opinionated in the best possible way — she runs on coffee, kindness, and a To-Do list that could intimidate a small city. She’s funny, practical, and somehow manages to be both a great planner and completely spontaneous (booked a flight at midnight once because why not). She’s fiercely loyal, loves her family like it’s an Olympic sport, and will nag you into taking better care of yourself while secretly doing the same things she criticizes. Tiny odd detail: she collects novelty spatulas? No idea where that came from but it’s adorable.
Theo Saville
Theo is moody, brilliant, and surprisingly sensible for his age — the teenager who reads a lot and says things that make adults uncomfortable (in a good way). He’s sensitive, artistic, and can flip between guarded and wildly open in a single conversation — unpredictable, yes, but never boring. He’s got a dry humor and an earnest streak that makes you root for him even when he’s being frustratingly aloof. Also: board game champion, which is the thing he brags about but denies the next day.
Sophie Dixon
Sophie is a human sunbeam with a razor-sharp edge — radio voice, big heart, and a knack for making terrible puns at precisely the wrong moment. She’s endlessly supportive, a matchmaker/detective hybrid, and will guilt you into doing what’s best for you while loudly encouraging it. She’s messy in a lovable “laundry on the chair” way but also has the emotional intelligence of someone three times her age — empath and chaos wrapped in sparkly sneakers. And yes, she probably has an emergency cheese stash in her drawer; it’s both a fact and a mood.
