Detective Culp

Detective Culp is that quietly brilliant cop who you think is background noise until they drop a line that rewires the whole scene. Methodical, a little deadpan, and suspiciously fond of obscure film references (he will absolutely correct your movie quote, sorry), but also the kind of person who forgets where they put their keys every morning. He’s not flashy — but watch him watch people, it’s uncanny, like he reads the room in subtitles. Also kind of a gum-chewer, which is adorable and distracting at the same time.

Walt

Walt is the nervy, slightly jittery one who insists on being practical and then makes the most dramatic choices when you least expect it. He talks fast, worries faster, and keeps an absurdly organized phone full of notes (and then ignores them), which is hilarious. There’s this tender awkwardness to him that makes you root for him even when he’s being annoying. Oh and he probably feeds pigeons sometimes? Not sure, but I can totally see it.

Xavier

Xavier is the gloriously extra, center-of-attention type — equal parts charm and ego, with a smile that asks for a spotlight and sometimes gets it. Deep down there’s insecurity peeking out from the threads of his designer jacket (yes, designer — or a very convincing thrift store find). Chelsea

Chelsea is cold-on-the-outside-but-not-actually-cold, fiercely stylish and sharp as a tack; she says what she means and means what she says, most of the time. She gives off a “too cool for this” vibe but will defend someone like a hero — secretly very loyal, do not test that. Loves a perfect playlist (but pretends she doesn’t care about music), and carries herself like she owns the room even when she’s trying not to. She also has an oddly specific talent for knowing who took the last slice of pizza.

Yasper

Yasper is pure, loud, unfiltered joy with a heart the size of a football stadium — equal parts hype man and soft dad. He lives for one-liners, big gestures, and making sure everyone is having the best time, even if his timing is chaotic and sometimes wrong. He DJ’s like it’s a religious experience, but will cry at a sad commercial and apologize to the cashier. Ridiculously loyal, dramatic, and probably organizes group selfies with military precision.

Brett

Brett is the anxious planner who tries to keep everything under control and then spirals beautifully when any plan deviates by two degrees. Hyper-observant, it’s like he catalogues tiny details into an overstuffed mental spreadsheet (sticky notes are his love language), but he also has weird moments of bravado where he says something totally unforgettable and then blushes. He’s a rules person who secretly wishes he were more reckless, and sometimes he is, which is the best. Also, for some reason, he smells faintly of cinnamon? Maybe that’s just in my head.

Zoe

Zoe is quietly fierce and emotionally intelligent — the kind of person who notices how people say things, not just what they say. Empathetic, steady, and sometimes the reluctant peacemaker, she carries a warmth that fits like a favorite sweater. She’s low-key dramatic in tiny ways (like dramatic eyebrow raises) and has a weirdly specific collection of novelty mugs. Also probably the person who remembers everyone’s birthdays and forgives easily but doesn’t forget.

Aniq

Aniq is the lovably earnest protagonist who tries to be cool but is mostly adorable chaos — a sentimental go-getter with a million awkward smiles. He narrates life like a rom-com hero in his head, which is both endearing and borderline tragic when reality disagrees, but he keeps trying anyway and that’s the whole point. Sweet, curious, and surprisingly sharp when it counts, he cares deeply (maybe too much) and is the first to forgive. He also tells slightly embellished stories that grow a little with each retelling — guilty and proud.

Detective Danner

Detective Danner is flamboyant energy wrapped in a badge; bold, theatrical, and impossible to ignore — she practically enters rooms like a musical number. Equal parts show-woman and genuinely sharp investigator, she uses drama as a tool (and a weapon) and somehow it works — people talk, and she listens. She’s confident to the point of swagger but has cracks of real vulnerability that make her human, surprisingly tender under the bravado.
