Charlie is the kind of person who walks into a room and somehow makes the temperature drop and everyone listen — leader energy but low-key. He’s fiercely protective, stubborn as an oak, and has this weird habit of whistling old pop songs when he’s thinking (don’t ask why, he won’t tell you). On paper he’s the moral center of the crew, but he’s also wildly complicated — secretive choices, gray-area ethics, the whole package. He can be tender in the smallest, weirdest ways, then flip to cold and efficient when things go sideways, and most people either trust him instantly or spend a decade trying to figure out what he’s hiding.

Emma Hill

Emma is the quietly explosive one — soft-spoken until she isn’t, and then watch out. She reads too much and speaks in movie quotes half the time, but also plans with terrifying precision and will, I swear, map out your life if you let her. Empathy is her superpower; she’ll hold your hand in the ambulance and also secretly roll her eyes at melodrama (but only privately). Practical, loyal, slightly controlling, she keeps the group together with color-coded sticky notes and terrible bread that everyone inexplicably loves.

Birdie Nicoletti

Birdie is basically chaos in a floral dress — free, loud, and utterly unapologetic about it. She loves midnight adventures, petty vandalism (harmless, she insists), and singing off-key in diners, and yet she’s the first person to sit quietly at a vigil. Reckless with a grin and loyal to the bone, she has this annoying optimism that somehow works even when everything’s falling apart. Also collects bad pens, hoards fortune-cookie fortunes, and is impossible to read, which makes her endlessly fun and slightly dangerous.

Fran Nicoletti

Fran is the matriarch with lipstick like a weapon and a stare that will shame you into admitting your sins. Crunchy on the outside, marshmallow on the inside — she runs the emotional thermostat for the family and knows everyone’s secrets (and will use them, lovingly-ish). She’s blunt, hilarious, suspiciously fond of old soap operas, and will feed you until you confess every uncomfortable truth. Sometimes she says she hates fuss but bakes three-tier cakes for nothing; old habits, stubborn love, and contradictions galore.

Leo Nicoletti

Leo is the quiet storm — always two steps behind a joke but somehow the smartest person in the room. He’s got sticky notes plastered on his laptop, a thousand tabs open in his brain, and a talent for hacking systems and hearts in equal measure. Shy with strangers, fiercely brave with friends, prone to neurotic midnight monologues about coffee ratios, and very bad at small talk. There’s a soft, guilty sweetness to him — he keeps childhood drawings under his toolbox and will deny it fiercely — dependable, nerdy, and low-key haunted in the best possible way.
