Archie Andrews

Archie is that big-hearted, red-headed whirlwind who somehow thinks he can fix everything with one honest grin and a really loud guitar riff. He’s the town golden boy—baseball hero, wannabe musician, sometimes firefighter-in-training?—always tripping over his own good intentions but genuinely trying to be a better man. He’s loyal to a fault (which means messy love triangles and awkward apologies), and he has this stupidly sincere moral compass that you either love or want to throttle. Also? He likes pancakes at midnight and will defend you in a fight even if he hasn’t quite read the room.

Betty Cooper

Betty comes off as the spotless, small-town do-gooder but there’s a whole dark notebook under that cardigan, okay? She’s endlessly curious, investigative, neat-as-a-pin (color-coded pens!) and somehow both painfully empathetic and quietly dangerous when pushed. She’ll bake you cookies and then spend three sleepless nights digging into your family history — in a good way? — and sometimes she’s all smiles, other times she’s assembling a plan like a tiny, anxious general. Also, she writes little poems at 2 AM and loses them in laundry, probably.

Veronica Lodge

Veronica is glamour with elbows, New York polish dumped into Riverdale chaos and somehow it works — mostly because she’s smarter than everyone thinks. She’s stylish, ruthless in business (but loyal to her weird little friend family), endlessly ambitious and has a soft spot she hides behind designer sunglasses. She’ll charm a room, bankrupt an enemy, then cry into a silk pillow because family is complicated—very complicated—and she feels things, I swear. Oh and she buys shoes she can’t afford and then hacks the books to make it look fine, which is both impressive and illegal.

Jughead Jones

Jughead is the sardonic, beanie-wearing narrator who eats burgers like they’re his religion and writes like he’s procrastinating from saving the world. He’s broody, brilliant, and kind of a loner but also the fiercest friend you could have (he’ll defend you with passive-aggressive comments and actual fists). He narrates everything in his head like it’s a noir and then contradicts himself by caring way too much about tiny injustices, and yes, he has a typewriter… sometimes a laptop, sometimes a typewriter, who knows. Also: cat person? Maybe.

Hermione Lodge

Hermione is Veronica’s poised, razor-smart mother with an immaculate haircut and a killer poker face; she runs circles around Riverdale’s men and most of the women too. She’s elegant, strategic, protective in that iron-fist-in-a-silk-glove way, and she gives the best backhanded compliments ever. She can host a charity gala while quietly rearranging the town’s power dynamics, and she genuinely loves her daughter even if “love” comes with spreadsheets and contingency plans. Small weird detail: she drinks chamomile at midnight but somehow always smells faintly like expensive perfume and danger.

Cheryl Blossom

Cheryl is theatrical, crimson-haired chaos wrapped in heartbreak and couture—queen bee, nightmare roommate, secret cinnamon bun. She’s dramatic, vindictive when crossed, but also deeply vulnerable and oddly loyal to the people she deems worthy (which is a very short list). Everything about her is intense: the fashion, the scathing remarks, the grief that flares up in the most inconvenient moments, and she will chew you out with metaphors involving cherries and poison. Also, she eats cake for breakfast sometimes and will tell you it’s a ritual.

Josie McCoy

Josie is the powerhouse performer — confident, charismatic, killer voice and leader of every stage she steps on, even if she gets stage-fright sometimes (don’t tell anyone). She’s ambitious and driven, but with a genuinely sweet core; the diva moments are mostly performance art and also somewhat real. She commands the room in sequins but will text you a supportive meme at 3 AM, and she takes music seriously like it’s sacred. Little quirk: she’s equal parts fierce frontwoman and low-key cat person, which somehow works.

Hiram Lodge

Hiram is the textbook bad boss of Riverdale but in a tailor-made suit — calculated, sinister, and unsettlingly charming when he wants to be. He’s a power broker who prefers manipulation to fists, running the town like a chessboard and everyone else as expendable pawns, but he can be oddly paternal when it suits him (then immediately exploitative — classic). He collects grudges and rare cigars, enjoys playing mind games, and will smile while planning your financial ruin. Also, rumor has it he loves old jazz records and has a tiny soft spot for oddly specific antiques — go figure.

Kevin Keller

Kevin is sunshine wrapped in good taste — openly gay, hilarious, and the kind of friend who remembers everyone’s birthday and their dog’s middle name. He’s warm, dramatic in the best way (theater kid energy for life), and fiercely loyal; also, he will call you out with kindness and then make a perfect playlist to make you feel better. He can be confident on stage and suspiciously insecure off it, which is exactly what makes him so relatable, and he has an annoying talent for looking absolutely adorable in every lighting. Small inconsistent thing: he both loves and fears karaoke — depending on the week.
