A young convict joins a firefighting program looking for redemption and a shortened prison sentence. He and other inmates work alongside elite firefighters to extinguish massive blazes across the region.

Meet the characters from Fire Country

Eve Edwards

Eve is this fierce, stubborn spark of a person who somehow manages to be both the team’s conscience and its most likely troublemaker — in the best way. She’s fiercely loyal, speaks first and thinks later (sometimes), and has this weird habit of humming the same weird jingle when she’s nervous — which you’d never expect from someone so put-together. There’s a softness underneath the steel, like she collects stray animals and regrets in equal measure, and she’ll surprise you by baking cookies for no reason at 2 a.m. Also, she acts like she hates compliments but secretly writes them down, which is adorable and also very Eve.

Manny Perez

Manny is the kind of guy who looks like trouble (bandanna, leather jacket vibes) but will quietly hold the door for an entire squad and check your air tanks like it’s a ritual. He’s all swagger and practical jokes, yet there’s this huge, inexplicable patience when he’s teaching newbies — you can see him soften and get oddly tender. Loves salsa music and once tried to fix a radio with chewing gum and optimism, don’t ask how that went. He bristles at being called “soft” and will deny it for hours, but he’ll show up with soup when you’re sick, so pick your battles.

Bode Donovan

Bode is like a living, breathing plan — meticulous, a little controlling, and very proud of his sticky-note empire; also he loses them constantly so he’s not as organized as he thinks. A strategist through and through, he’s the kind who maps out possible worst-case scenarios and then makes a playlist for each one (yes, really), which is oddly calming. There’s a dry humor under his clipped exterior and he hoards pens for reasons that are 50% practical and 50% sentimental. He can be cold when stressed but will also be the first to stay and clean up after everyone, which says a lot.

Jake Crawford

Jake is big-hearted and loud and drives a truck that’s somehow more personality than vehicle — bumper stickers, a dent from who-knows-when, and an entire thermos collection. He’s the comic relief until you need someone to be deadly serious; loyal to a fault and prone to ridiculous but effective improvisation (duct tape solves many things, apparently). He tells tall tales that may or may not be true, like the time he supposedly outran a wildfire on a unicycle — and honestly, I believe him. Despite the goofiness, he’s the anchor in crises: steady, warm, and annoyingly good at fixing grills.

Gabriela Perez

Gabriela is quietly fierce in the way librarians are quietly fierce in heist movies — precise, observant, and with an unexpectedly sharp sense of humor. She notices the little things other people miss (like misfiled emotions and actual file folders), and then uses that to make the team work better, sometimes with spreadsheets and sometimes with a look. She drinks tea like it’s an art form, except on Fridays when she betrays herself with an energy drink, which she’ll deny but we all saw. Also, she’s very protective of her jokes; don’t steal them unless you want an epic side-eye.

Sharon Leone

Sharon is the kind of person who gives speeches that make you cry and then will make you laugh five minutes later with a pun she swears she didn’t rehearse. She’s authoritative, maternal in a “I’ll fight for you” way, and yet she has this habit of doodling tiny stars on the edge of maps — no one knows why, not even her. Tough as nails but also carries a chipped mug that she refuses to replace because “it remembers the bad days,” which is both dramatic and adorable. She’s a natural leader who will let you rant for ten minutes and then hand you a plan taped to a clipboard.

Vince Leone

Vince is the quiet storm: low-key, intensely competent, and secretly sentimental about old rock albums — don’t ask him to pick a favorite, he’ll hem and haw and then tell you a story about a gig in 1999. He’s the fixer, the one who stays late to calibrate equipment and will judge your packing skills silently (and accurately). People assume he’s stoic but he’s got this ridiculous collection of novelty socks that contradict the whole vibe, so yeah, there’s layers. He doesn’t like big speeches, prefers action, and will absolutely be the person who shows up with spare boots when yours get ruined.
