Valeria

Valeria is the kind of person who announces her arrival without actually saying anything—she’s this low-key hurricane. Confident and brainy, she’s always three moves ahead but somehow still spills coffee on her plans and then laughs about it. In the story she’s the strategist, the one who stitches together other people’s secrets and makes bold choices that feel inevitable and also somehow a little reckless. She collects little souvenirs like bus tickets and tiny stones, hums off-key when nervous, and keeps a perfectly unreadable journal in a bag that’s always half open. Emotionally complicated, fiercely loyal and quietly terrified at times—she can be both unbearably warm and deliberately distant in the space of a single conversation, which is one of the things that makes her so fascinating.

Leo

Leo is the laugh-that-comes-before-the-punchline guy, the one who lights up a room and then disappears when things get serious. Charming and impulsive, he does ridiculous brave things (sometimes for show, sometimes because he actually thinks it’s a great idea) and is inexplicably good at finding hidden alleys. Carlos
