“The Pact” hit screens in 2021 and it’s all about coworkers at a brewery. They share a deep, dark secret. When one of them kicks the bucket, they scramble to protect that secret. But surprise! Things fall apart and they all look guilty. Tensions rise, friendships get messy and they have to confront their own issues while trying to figure out what really happened. Sounds fun, right?
Meet the characters from The Pact
Anna
Anna is the quiet storm of the group — the one who looks like she’s made of porcelain but has this weird, patient streak of steel. She notices tiny things and then flips them into big, life-changing decisions (also she keeps a gum wrapper in her wallet for reasons she won’t explain). Sometimes she comes off cold but it’s more like tight focus; she cares, loudly, in a very internal way. Honestly, she’s probably plotting three moves ahead while pretending she can’t find her keys.
Arwel
Arwel is that restless, slightly theatrical friend who tells stories with his hands and owns more scarves than sense. Charming as hell, a little messy, and very persuasive — you feel like saying yes when he suggests anything, even things you didn’t want to do; which is both thrilling and alarming. He has this sudden generosity, then vanishes for days and pops back like nothing happened (maybe on purpose, maybe not). Full of contradictions: loyal but flighty, brave but scared of small dogs, and somehow always wearing the same jacket.
Cat
Cat is fierce in a low-key way, like a cat — hah, obvious, I know — but she’s also clumsy with feelings which makes her weirdly endearing. She holds people accountable, has a dry sense of humor, and deeply resents small talk (will fake laugh but it’s pained). She’s super pragmatic but keeps a terrible, secret soft spot for old romantic movies; don’t tell her I said that. Also tends to make snap decisions and then spend a week apologizing — or not apologizing, depends on the mood.
DS Holland
DS Holland is the kind of detective who collects tiny details like trophies; meticulous, a bit worn-out, and poignantly stubborn. He’s official, procedural, loves paperwork (no joke), but under that professional exterior there’s a tired human who remembers every case too well. He can be cold when needed but surprises people with a sardonically tender comment at the worst possible moment. Honestly, he looks like he should drink black coffee but secretly enjoys sweet tea sometimes — don’t ask.
Jack
Jack is boyish energy turned adult complexity; warm, a touch reckless, and immensely loyal. He’ll crack a joke in a tense room and somehow make you feel safer — unless he’s quietly furious, in which case you notice later and it’s terrifying. Loves local pubs and bad chips, is stubborn about his principles but also has this soft, questionable hobby (stamps? model planes? who knows). He’s the guy who tries to fix things with his hands and his heart, which is adorable and sometimes catastrophic.
Louie
Louie is loud, impulsive, and annoyingly honest in the best possible way; like, he says the thing you wanted to scream. He’s great at mischief and at making people laugh, but there’s this surprising depth — old hurt tucked under the jokes — that sneaks up on you. He’ll bail you out at 3 a.m. and also text you dumb memes at 3 p.m., same day, like clockwork. Kind of a mess, probably sleeps in weird positions, but fiercely protective.
Max
Max is terse and efficient and somehow magnetic — the kind of person who looks like they’ve already solved the problem before you’ve even stated it. He’s got a guarded quiet that feels safe but also slightly unnerving, like he’s always three steps ahead or three steps away. Secretly a softie for ridiculous things (puppies, cartoons, melodramatic playlists), which conflicts with his “don’t bother me” vibe and makes him secretly adorable. He’s not showy about loyalty but the second something matters to him, he’s immovable.
Nancy
Nancy is sharp, observant, and carries this perfectly curated chaos — lists, sticky notes, tote bags, probably a spare biscuit hidden somewhere. She’s warm but also ferociously determined; once she’s set on something she doesn’t stop until it’s done (or until she needs a nap, whichever comes first). Has a laugh that breaks tension, and also a tendency to ramble when nervous, which is kind of the best. Slightly contradictory: loves rules but always finds inventive loopholes.
Ryan
Ryan is intense in small doses and wildly empathetic in big ones; like he’ll cry at commercials and also start dramatic conspiracies about missing umbrellas. He’s loyal to a fault and suspicious sometimes for good reasons, you know? He’s got this vulnerable bravado — says he’s fine, then quietly organizes the most elaborate mid-night support plan. Slightly flaky with addresses and on time-ness, but emotionally punctual.
Tamsin
Tamsin is sharp, theatrical, and a little mysterious — the person who knows gossip but seems above it, until she’s not. She can be witty and cruel in equal measures, which is thrilling and intimidating, and she uses humor as armor (and a weapon). Also prone to spontaneous midnight drives, owns at least three leather jackets, and will absolutely judge your playlist while recommending one better. Deep down she’s more loyal than she’d let on and terrible at keeping secrets, ironically.
Tish
Tish is quietly fierce, a realist with an unexpectedly huge capacity for hope — the kind of person who organizes things and then runs away to help people. She’s practical, slightly anxious, and incredibly brave in small, persistent ways; not flashy bravery, but the kind that keeps going. Gets flustered easily, talks fast when excited, and probably has a secret collection of terrible poetry. Petty sometimes, generous often, and intensely human in all the messy, lovable ways.
