Meet the characters from Alchemy of Souls
Go Won
Okay so Go Won is that quietly polished noblewoman who seems like she was carved from porcelain but actually has this stubborn, fierce streak under the surface — like don’t be fooled, she will quietly move mountains. She’s graceful, always proper, but will get her hands dirty for the people she cares about, which is somehow adorable and terrifying at once. There’s this soft, steady compassion to her; she’s the kind of person who remembers everyone’s birthdays and also plots revenge with surgical precision (not saying she does, but maybe). Oh and tiny detail — collects porcelain teacups and loses them constantly? Somehow she’s both impeccably tidy and forever misplacing things.
Mu Deok
Mu Deok is a whole vibe — lethal, stubborn, a little awkward at parties, and impossibly loyal, like she’ll protect you with her life and then apologize five times for the trouble. She’s rough-edged, fierce in a fight, and somehow painfully sincere about small, dumb things (like how she blunders through etiquette but means the world). There’s this adorable contradiction where she claims she hates music yet hums to herself when she’s nervous, and she’s surprisingly tender with animals, plants, and broken people. Honestly, she could probably disarm an army and then burn the stew because she forgot the recipe, and you’d still love her.
Park Jin
Park Jin feels like the lovable brainiac who carries a stack of books and a secret stash of snacks — earnest, principled, and occasionally hilariously smug about his own cleverness. He’s the kind of friend who quotes philosophy at breakfast and then spills tea on his sleeve five minutes later; sincere but disarmingly human. He’s got this moral backbone, always trying to do the right thing, yet will embarrassingly panic in social situations (cute, I know). Little quirks: always has a little herbal sachet tucked in his coat and corrects your grammar with the gentlest smirk.
Jang Uk
Jang Uk is the classic broody swordsman with a poison-heart (not literally? maybe) — proud, volatile, and magnetic, like he’s drama incarnate but in the very best way. He’s scarred, stubborn, and oddly childish at moments, flipping between icy reserve and bafflingly sincere petulance; irresistible, really. Underneath the swagger there’s a soft, loyal core that surprises people who write him off too quickly, and he’s ridiculously bad at hiding that he cares. Also: has a weird habit of twirling something (hair? a ring? a sword tassel?) when he’s thinking, which is somehow so very him.
Seo Yul
Seo Yul is the cool, composed strategist — aloof on the surface, calculating in the best way, but also secretly tender if you catch him off-guard. He gives off serious “I have no time for nonsense” energy yet will quietly rescue a stray animal and pretend it wasn’t him, which is maybe the most Seo Yul thing ever. He’s precise, a bit sharp-tongued, and unnervingly efficient, but there are moments where a slight softness slips through and you’re like, oh wow. Fun detail: he’s annoyingly good at calligraphy and uses it to stalk people’s moods? Not literally, but maybe.
Kim Do Ju
Kim Do Ju is the dependable friend who’s secretly a low-key badass — warm, grounded, and the kind of person you want on your side in a brawl or a bad week. He’s steady, loyal to a fault, and has this calm humor that sneaks up on you; he makes terrible jokes and somehow they land because he looks so sincere. He’s practical (and secretly super talented with a blade or two) but also bakes bread at midnight for reasons he won’t explain — humble chef vibes. Tiny contradiction: claims he hates attention but will absolutely smirk when praised, like, come on Kim Do Ju, we see you.
