Meet the professions in Guild Wars 2

The Warrior

The Warrior just roars into everything like “I got this” and somehow actually usually does. Big sword, bigger feelings, and a peculiarly strict code about who gets to sit in the front row — it’s all about honor and impact, literally. Loves a good charge, hates being told to slow down (but will listen if you bring snacks); also secretly writes poetry about battle scars sometimes. Stoic but not boring — there’s a grin under that greasepaint if you know where to look.

The Thief

The Thief is all nimble feet, sharper wit, and a suspiciously well-organized pocketful of treasures (and gum wrappers, who knows). Sneaky, sarcastic, and absolutely delighted by chaos; steals your coin and your heart, maybe in that order. Always three steps ahead in a fight and two steps behind in social niceties — they hate small talk but collect gossip like it’s perfume. Weirdly loyal once you earn it, and yes, they do have a favorite dagger with a name.

The Revenant

The Revenant carries centuries in their eyes and a very opinionated spirit living inside their helmet. Channeling legends and ancestral rage makes them feel deeply dramatic, like someone who occasionally narrates their own life in past tense. Grim and honorable but with flashes of bizarrely specific nostalgia (for a war they might not have actually attended); also loves loud metal music for reasons. They’re both the slow burn and the big, glowing hammer that ends the fight.

The Ranger

The Ranger is basically a woodland playlist and a dog that never shuts up — calm, tuned-in, and absurdly deadly from afar. They love nature so much they will lecture a tree while simultaneously setting up traps that explode (in a good way). Their pet steals the spotlight half the time, which they kind of enjoy but also deny; soft-hearted tracker with a hidden streak of sarcasm. Versatile, patient, and terrible at pretending not to love mushrooms.

The Necromancer

The Necromancer is that delightfully grim friend who throws living (and un-living) parties — bones, banter, and a weird sense of style. Commanding spirits, making death useful, and occasionally decorating tombstones like it’s craft night; equal parts shy scholar and theatrical overlord. They brood a lot but will also surprise you with dry jokes and an odd hobby (knitting fingers? maybe). Terrible with plants but somehow excellent at raising them from the dead, which is both impressive and unsettling.

The Mesmer

The Mesmer is glamour, misdirection, and a smug smile that makes you doubt your own shoelaces. Master of illusions, glamorous chaos, and emotionally exhaustive double-takes — they can make a whole fight feel like a stage play (and they love the applause). Brilliant, slightly untrustworthy in the best way, and very into tiny reflective objects (pocket mirror collection, probably). They look cool doing it, even when secretly panicking behind the scenes.

The Guardian

The Guardian is polite, very polite, and then politely crushes you with a shield while insisting you’d had the chance to apologize first. Principled, protective, annoyingly competent at organizing people into lines, and also genuinely believes in doing the right thing (which is kind of adorable). Stoic on the outside, oddly whimsical on weekends — fireworks? tea time? yes please. Reliable as a lighthouse and surprisingly salty when crossed.

The Elementalist

The Elementalist is like someone who took chemistry class and fell in love with thunderstorms. Wildly versatile, constantly juggling fire, water, earth, and air with the panache of a distracted professor and the drama of a storm chaser. Brilliant, kind of fragile if you step on their toes (literally and figuratively), and will nerd out about weather patterns for hours if you let them. Glamorous chaos personified — very prone to dramatic gestures and the occasional friendly burnout.

The Engineer

The Engineer is gizmos, gears, and one heck of a personality — equal parts tinkerer, prankster, and accidental arsonist (in a controlled, very controlled way). Always inventing something ridiculous that also solves three problems at once; hates inefficiency and loves a good cup of tea with a spark plug in it (don’t ask). Pragmatic, sarcastic, and somehow emotionally attached to their tools, which they name, yes. They plan for everything except dramatic plot twists, which they then solve with a grenade and a grin.
