Interesting facts about filming Sherlock

• The idea to make a modern version of "Sherlock" came from Stephen Moffat and Mark Getss. Once Moffat's wife Sue invited them to the Criterion restaurant, located in the Piccadilly Circus area. This place was mentioned in the book A Study in Scarlet, in which Conan Doyle first introduced Holmes to the public. Sue reminded the men that they had long wanted to return to the plot of Sherlock. This was the beginning of the birth of a wonderful series.

• After the start of the series in the UK, sales of Arthur Conan-Doyle's printed books rose sharply. According to the Nielsen BookScan agency, in 2009 this number amounted to 57,000 copies, and in 2010 - 88,000.
• Fans staged a real hunt for the actors of the series. In real time, they tracked shooting location and shared information on Twitter under the tag #setlock. This made the filming very difficult, as sometimes a crowd of 300 people watched the course of the action. Once, fans began to applaud violently when they saw Martin Freeman open the pack of chips. Due to all this fanatic outrage, the producers had to minimize shooting in open areas.
• In Japan, they released a manga version of the series. In comics Sherlock Holmes battles aliens and vampires.
