Meet the characters from Amphibia
Anne Boonchuy
Anne is that fearless mess of a hero who somehow makes chaos look like a plan — scrappy, loud, and impossibly loyal. She’s street-smart and brave and will punch a giant plant without thinking twice, but also cries at really small things (like a sandwich she misses from home — truly tragic). Loves weird pop culture references she insists no one else gets, hates rules but will absolutely become the one enforcing a weird new tradition the next day. She’s got that tireless, “I’ll figure it out” energy, plus a surprisingly soft spot for tiny frogs, and also she loses one shoe in every adventure, it’s basically her brand.
Sprig Plantar
Sprig is pure, unfiltered enthusiasm — tiny, endlessly optimistic, and always up for an adventure (or three) even if that adventure is literally chasing a butterfly into doom. He’s brave in a loud, sometimes recklessly cute way; also suspiciously clever when it counts, like a kid with a PhD in “winging it.” Extremely dramatic (emotional speeches at breakfast are a thing) but also very practical — will fix your cart with duct tape and a leaf, no questions asked. He hoards snacks like a squirrel and insists on being everyone’s moral compass, which is adorable and sometimes exhausting.
Hop Pop
Hop Pop is the grumpy, rule-quoting grandfather figure who secretly loves chaos but will never admit it — he says “tradition” and you believe him, even when he’s wearing a ridiculous hat. Fiercely protective, stubborn to the point of comedy, but with a heart you can see from space; somehow he’s both a walking encyclopedia of old-frog lore and terrible at technology. He scolds the kids, dispenses weird aphorisms, and then bakes a pie that fixes your soul (and probably your morale). Definitely has a mysterious past (probably more than one), and yes he does knit, but he will glare if you call it “knitting,” so don’t.
Polly Plantar
Polly is a tiny ball of chaos who mostly communicates via intense croaks and selective chomping, and yet somehow you always know what she’s thinking — maybe telepathy? Probably not, but she’s suspiciously expressive. Ferocious, adorable, tiny dictator energy; bites things she likes, and also things she doesn’t like (there’s no in-between). She naps like a champion and then wakes up ready to start a riot or save the world, sometimes both in the same minute. Collects shiny things, fears nothing except maybe bath time, and will stare at you like she’s silently judging your life choices (and she is).
One-Eyed Wally
Wally is the big, slow-moving softie who looks intimidating but gives the best hugs if you can manage to reach his hug-zone. He’s kind of the lovable gentle giant trope — slightly clumsy (frequently knocks over a table), but also remarkably perceptive when you least expect it. Likes quiet hobbies; gardening, watching clouds, maybe playing the accordion poorly and proudly — don’t ask why he has an accordion, it’s just his thing. Tends to say things very slowly, which makes them sound like ancient wisdom even when he’s talking about snacks.
Mrs. Croaker
Mrs. Croaker is nosy in the most entertaining way — a village gossip with a soft center who’ll spill the tea and then knit you a sweater to make up for it. She has opinions on everything, especially recipes and whether to hang laundry on a Tuesday (definitely not a Tuesday), but she’ll also surprise you with random acts of kindness at 3 a.m. Super proper and a bit prim one moment, then delightfully unhinged the next — like she keeps a secret stash of confetti and war plans. Knows everyone’s birthdays and secrets (sometimes confuses them, sorry), but honestly she means well and will bake you cookies if you cry.
Mayor Toadstool
Mayor Toadstool is pompous and theatrical in the best possible way — loves ceremonies, ribbons, and being very official, but also gets flustered when anything actually goes wrong (which is often). He’s ambitious and a bit vain, always planning parades and plaque unveilings, yet he genuinely wants what’s best for the town even if his methods involve too many speeches. Has a surprising talent for diplomacy… except when he doesn’t, which is often hilariously public. Collects miniature statues and insists on using a seal on everything (including grocery lists), and deep down he’s kind of a soft lobbyist for frog hugs.
