Welcome to Quiz: Which 'Innocent' Character Are You

“Innocent” is this 2018 show about David Collins, who just got out of prison after seven years for his wife’s murder. With help from his brother Phil and his wife’s sister Alice, David attempts to prove he is not guilty and sniff out the real killer. But wait! He has to deal with police suspicion, led by DI Cathy Hudson and a bunch of secrets lurking in his cozy little town. It is a nail-biter that keeps you guessing till the credits roll.

Meet the characters from Innocent

David Collins

Oh man, David is the kind of guy who looks like he ought to fold into the wallpaper but somehow becomes the whole room — quiet, jittery, and full of stuff he never says out loud. He’s loyal in a way that feels almost stubborn, like he’ll guard a secret until his teeth fall out (slightly dramatic, yes, but kind of true). There’s this edge to him, a haunted look at the corner of his face, but then he’ll do something absurdly kind like make tea at 3 a.m. — he’s confusing, in the best way. Also, I swear he has an old comic book he hides in his pocket sometimes; no idea why, but it suits him.

Phil Collins

Phil is the slow-burn kind of character — steady, frustratingly practical, and unexpectedly stubborn about little things nobody else notices. He’s the “I’ll sort it out” person, which is both comforting and mildly terrifying because his idea of sorting things out can be oddly stubborn (and not always sensible). He’s got a dry sense of humor that sneaks up on you, and there’s a weird tenderness under his gruffness — like he has a soft spot for stray cats or poorly kept plants. He might mumble things under his breath, or loudly declare his love for custard creams, depending on the day.

Rob Moffatt

Rob’s energy is this jittery, nervous coil — lovable, defensive, and kind of cruel to himself in private (don’t we all). He’s the person who oscillates between over-explaining and saying nothing at all; he overthinks everything and then acts on impulse five minutes later, which makes him thrilling and exhausting to watch. There’s a nervous charm to him, and yet you can tell he’s always measuring the room — like he’s practicing apologies in his head. Weird little thing: he’s obsessed with the smell of old libraries, which makes him either deeply romantic or quietly bizarre.

Alice Moffatt

Alice comes off like a bolt of clarity — sharp, practical, and sometimes surprisingly ruthless when she needs to be (but not in a cartoon way, in a really human way). She’s fiercely protective of the people she loves, and she’ll cut through nonsense with a single sentence that lands like a punch (kind of impressive, honestly). At the same time she’s got this soft, almost nostalgic side — remembers birthdays, keeps odd little keepsakes — so she’s not all steel, promise. Also, I could swear she whistles when she’s nervous, even though she swears she doesn’t.

DI Cathy Hudson

DI Cathy is the classic detective with a bruised-soul vibe; professional, dogged, and annoyingly good at seeing through people (the worst). She treats every puzzle like a personal challenge and has this habit of pacing while she talks — it’s oddly comforting and slightly alarming. She’s empathetic but also ruthless when the evidence points somewhere; you do not want to be on the wrong side of her notes. Fun detail: she drinks tea like it’s an investigative tool, and keeps a battered notepad full of doodles and half-formed theories.

Jack

Jack’s this slightly mysterious wildcard — easy to like at first and then you notice the little cracks that make him human and kind of irresistible. He’s impulsive in ways that are both heroic and dumb, kind of a “do it now, apologize later” energy, but hey, sometimes that’s exactly what the moment needs. He’s loyal to a fault, which is both admirable and gets him into messes (classic). Oh, and he always wears one glove for reasons he’ll never explain, or maybe he forgets to wear the other one; either way, it’s his thing.

Tom Wilson

Tom gives off the “calm in a storm” vibe—deliberate, a little distant, but with a surprising streak of stubborn protectiveness. He’ll analyze everything and quietly work the angles, which makes him good at long games and annoyingly patient in arguments. He’s also the kind of character who keeps old receipts and remembers weird details about people’s birthdays, and he’ll bring them up at the strangest times. There’s something melancholic about him, like he collects small regrets and arranges them into careful plans.

DI William Beech

DI William is pragmatic and experienced, the professional anchor in a sea of chaos — no nonsense, methodical, slightly weary but still sharp as a knife. He’s the type who’ll stare at a file for hours and quietly stitch together what everyone else missed, and he hates being rushed (he’ll tell you, bluntly). He can be dry and a little intimidating, but he’s got a soft center for the underdog that sneaks out in the worst possible moments. Also, he apparently keeps an old harmonica in his desk drawer and plays it when paperwork gets too depressing — which is oddly adorable.
